To host and be hosted

My French artist friend was so inspired by the post-barbeque seafood barbeque party of 8th August that he immediately invited everyone to his house for a home-cooked dinner two evenings later. What a great way to be thanked!

When you host an event, you have to plan ahead and make sure everything is under control and runs smoothly. I enjoy being a host as much as being a guest. As a host I feel responsible for everyone's enjoyment and well-being. As a guest I just want to have good food and interesting conversation.

Life is about reciprocation. It's human nature to want to reciprocate. We give and we take. We host and we get hosted. We love and we want to be loved.

Tonight I sat back and allowed myself to be served aperitif in the back garden and a delightful meal inside. French and English were spoken among the seven of us. What sweet life it is to have neighbours who reciprocate!
